Pharmacological effect
Licorice root is an expectorant of plant origin. A decoction of licorice root has an expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to licorice drugs, pregnancy, lactation, bronchial asthma; gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the period of exacerbation; children's age up to 1 year.
Dosage and administration
About 8 g (2 tablespoons) of the roots are placed in an enamel bowl, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of cooled boiled water, cover with a lid and heat on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, filter, squeeze the remaining raw material. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water. Is taken orally: adults and children over 12 years old - 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day, children from 5 to 12 years old - 1 dessert spoon 3-4 times a day, children from 3 to 5 years - 1 dessert spoon 2-3 times a day, children from 1 year to 3 years - 1 teaspoon 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. Before using the broth is recommended to shake.
