Pharmacological effect
Stabilizes the membranes of mast cells and prevents the release of histamine, leukotrienes and other biologically active substances. Delayed release of mediators occurs as a result of blocking the entry of calcium ions into the cells.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption through the mucous membrane of the eye is negligible. Systemic bioavailability - less than 0.03%. The half-life (T1 / 2) - 5 - 10 min.
Indications
Treatment (as part of complex therapy) and prevention of allergic conjunctivitis: Acute. Chronic. To alleviate and relieve irritations of the mucous membrane of the eyes associated with allergic reactions: On environmental factors and household chemicals. For occupational hazards, including smoke, dust, pairs of solvents and other chemicals. On the action of cosmetics and drugs. On plants and domestic animals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug components. Children up to 4 years old.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Use during pregnancy and lactation is possible if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and child. The active substance of the drug can be excreted in breast milk, however, an adverse effect on the baby is unlikely due to the insignificant systemic absorption. Dosage and administration
Local. Treatment: Adults and children are instilled with 1-2 drops of the drug 4 times a day (up to a maximum of 6 times) in the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye, at regular intervals of time. Duration of use is 7 days for allergic seasonal conjunctivitis and up to 4 weeks in chronic allergic conjunctivitis. Prevention: Adults and children are instilled with 1 drop of the drug 4 times a day in the lower conjunctival sac of the eye,at equal intervals of time. Application begins 7-10 days before the possible development of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and continues for another 7-10 days after the symptoms of the disease disappear.
Side effects
Local reactions: temporary violation of visual perception clarity, burning sensation in the eye, superficial damage to the corneal epithelium (drops contain a preservative - benzalkonium chloride). Allergic reactions: itching, mild pain and conjunctival hyperemia. Other reactions: in rare cases - nausea.
Interaction with other drugs
Cromoglycic acid may reduce the need for the use of ophthalmic preparations containing GCS.
special instructions
Crom-allerg eye drops contain benzalkonium chloride preservative, therefore persons wearing contact lenses should remove them before applying the drops and install again no earlier than 15 minutes.
