Pharmacological effect
Analeptic means of mixed action. The mechanism of action consists of central and peripheral effects on the nervous system. The central mechanism is associated with a direct effect on the vasomotor center of the medulla oblongata, leading to its excitation and mediated increase in blood pressure (especially with the initial inhibition of this center). Peripheral effect is caused by the excitation of carotid sinus chemoreceptors, which leads to an increase in the frequency and depth of respiratory movements. No direct effect on the cardiovascular system.
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption is high and does not depend on the route of administration. Exposed to rapid metabolism in the liver with the formation of inactive metabolites, mainly excreted by the kidneys.
Indications
Cordiamine is used in acute collapse and asphyxia, shock states during surgical operations and in the postoperative period, acute and chronic circulatory disorders, reduction of vascular tone, weakening of breathing in infectious diseases and in the recovery period, with asphyxiation of the newborn, poisoning with narcotic, hypnotic and analgesic drugs.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, reduction of convulsive threshold, epilepsy (including history), hyperthermia in children, pregnancy, lactation.

Dosage and administration
Cordiamine is injected subcutaneously, intramuscularly and intravenously. Subcutaneously, intramuscularly and intravenously, adults are administered in a dose of 1-2 ml 1-3 times a day, and subcutaneously, depending on age, children are administered in a dose of 0.1-0.75 ml. Intravenous administration is carried out slowly. In case of intoxication with drugs, analgesics, sleeping pills, adults, intravenously slowly inject 3-5 ml of the drug (it can also be injected under the skin and into the muscles). Since subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of the drug are painful, novocaine is administered preliminarily to reduce pain, depending on the situation at the injection site (adults - 1 ml of 0.5% solution, children - according to age). Higher doses for adults subcutaneously: single - 2 ml, daily - 6 ml. The highest single dose for subcutaneous and intravenous administration for drug poisoning is 5 ml.
Side effects

Overdose
Symptoms: increased severity of side effects, tonic-clonic convulsions. Treatment: symptomatic.
