Pharmacological effect
The combined antimicrobial drug. The effectiveness of the drug due to the presence in its composition of such active ingredients as metronidazole and chlorhexidine. ; Metronidazol speak German, Turkish, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German, German and German. spp. ; Inactive against aerobic bacteria. The mechanism of action consists in the biochemical reduction of the 5-nitro group of metronidazole with intracellular transport proteins of anaerobic microorganisms and protozoa. The recovered 5-nitro group of metronidazole interacts with the microbial cell DNA, inhibiting the synthesis of their nucleic acids, which leads to the death of bacteria. ; Chlorhexidine - disinfectant, active against a wide range of vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses. It acts on bacterial spores only at elevated temperatures. The bactericidal effect is due to the binding of cations (the result of the dissociation of chlorhexidine salt in the physiological environment) with negatively charged walls of bacterial cells and extramicrobial complexes. In low concentrations, disturbing the osmotic balance of bacterial cells and the release of potassium ions and phosphorus from them, has a bacteriostatic effect; at high concentrations, the cytoplasmic contents of the bacterial cell precipitate, which ultimately leads to the death of the bacteria.

Contraindications
hypersensitivity (including to metronidazole, chlorhexidine and nitroimidazole derivatives). ; C caution: pregnancy, lactation.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
It is not recommended to prescribe the drug to pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy. During lactation should decide the issue of termination of breastfeeding.
Dosage and administration
The drug is intended for dental use only! ; Locally, after thorough cleaning of the teeth, rinse the mouth with soda solution and wipe the gums with a dry cotton ball. Squeeze out a small amount of gel on a toothbrush and apply the gel with a toothbrush on the gums and interdental spaces. After applying the gel for 30 minutes you can not rinse your mouth and eat. Side effects
"Metallic" taste in the mouth, headache, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria).
Overdose
Cases of drug overdose when applied topically was not observed.
Interaction with other drugs
Enhances the anticoagulant effect of warfarin (an increase in the time of formation of prothrombin). ; Simultaneous use with disulfiram increases toxicity, which can lead to the development of neurological symptoms. ; Antimicrobial activity of metronidazole decreases with simultaneous use with phenobarbital and phenytoin due to the accelerated metabolism of metronidazole. ; Cimetidine inhibits the metabolism of metronidazole, which can lead to an increase in the concentration of metronidazole in serum.
special instructions
The use of Dentamet gel does not replace the hygienic cleaning of teeth, therefore, during the course of treatment with the preparation, cleaning of the teeth should be continued.
