Pharmacological effect
The drug with antibacterial, antiprotozoal, antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects for local use in gynecology. Effective against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus group B3, Candida albicans. It has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and antiexudative action. Reduces the formation, release and activity of inflammatory mediators (histamine, kinin, prostaglandins, lysosomal enzymes). Suppresses cell migration to the site of inflammation; reduces vasodilation and increased vascular permeability in the inflammation. Reduces exudation due to vasoconstrictor action. Promotes rapid reduction of burning and itching.
Pharmacokinetics
Studies of the pharmacokinetics of the drug Elzhina were not conducted due to low systemic absorption.
Indications
- Bacterial vaginitis caused by banal pyogenic flora; - vulvovaginal mycoses caused by Candida fungi; - vaginitis caused by mixed infection.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug; - children's and teenage age up to 18 years.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Dosage and administration
One tablet is administered daily deep into the vagina in the supine position before bedtime. Before the introduction into the vagina, the tablet must be held in cold boiled water for 20-30 seconds. After the introduction of the tablet should lie for 10-15 minutes. The average duration of treatment is 6-9 days. During menstrual bleeding, it is administered intravaginally in the usual manner.
Side effects
Local reactions: rarely - burning sensation, local irritation, vaginal dryness (especially at the beginning of treatment).In some cases, allergic reactions are possible.
Overdose
Due to the low degree of absorption of components into the systemic circulation, overdose is unlikely.
Interaction with other drugs
The incompatibility or interaction of the active components of Elzhina with other drugs are not described. It is recommended to inform the physician about simultaneous treatment with other drugs.
special instructions
In the case of treatment of vaginitis, simultaneous treatment of sexual partners is recommended. Cross-allergization and cross-resistance to aminoglycosides may develop. Use of the drug for more than 9 days is not recommended. Does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms.
