Pharmacological effect
The medical product HILO-KOMOD (Hilo from lat. Hyaluronic acidum - hyaluronic acid) is a sterile isotonic 0.1% aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate, not containing preservatives, in the original container (“Chest” system). Hyaluronic acid (in the form of sodium salt), which is a part of Chilo-Comod, is a natural substance. Sodium hyaluronate is a physiological polysaccharide compound found both in the tissues of the eye and other tissues and fluids of the human body. A special physicochemical property of sodium hyaluronate molecules is their pronounced ability to bind water molecules. An aqueous solution of sodium hyaluronate (HILO-KOMOD) has the necessary viscosity and high adhesive properties in relation to the front surface of the eye (cornea), due to which HILO-KOMOD forms a uniform, persistent tear film on the cornea surface that is not washed off when blinking and does not cause a decrease in visual acuity. Thereby, the eye is permanently protected from the sensation of dryness and irritation, which often occur on contact with the environment, as well as on wearing contact lenses. The use of HILO-KOMOD makes wearing hard or soft contact lenses more comfortable, while HILO-KOMOD is not deposited on the surface of the lenses. The Khilo-Komod solution is placed in the original “Komod” container, which is a complex system of tanks and valves, which guarantees the absence of air penetration from the outside and ensures the extraction of droplets of the same size, regardless of the degree of the applied force. The metal parts and valves of the container in contact with the HILO-KOMOD solution are partially covered with a thin layer of silver, which, together with the absolute tightness of the system, ensures the sterility of the HILO-KOMOD solution in the absence of preservatives in it. Thus, possible undesirable effects of preservatives on eye tissue are eliminated and good tolerability of the CHILO-KOMOD is ensured even with prolonged use.
Indications
To moisturize the surface of the eyes with a sensation of burning, "dryness", a feeling of a foreign body, sand, reflex tearing, irritation and fatigue of the eyes, arising from exposure to smoke, wind, ultraviolet radiation, conditioned air, after long watching TV and intensive work at the computer, and also after ophthalmologic operations, injuries, burns, corneal damage, while wearing contact lenses, age-related and pharmacological dry eye syndrome.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the components that make up the Khilo-Komod solution.
Dosage and administration
It is recommended to dig HILO-KOMOD 3 times a day into the conjunctival sac of each eye with 1 drop. If necessary, it can be used more often. The frequency of instillation of HILO-KOMOD is set individually depending on your feelings and according to the recommendations of an ophthalmologist or contact lens specialist. If you use CHILO-KOMOD very often (for example, more than 10 times a day), please consult with an ophthalmologist. In case after complaints and discomfort persist for several days after applying HILO-KOMOD, you should consult an ophthalmologist. The KOMOD system contains and allows extracting 10 ml of the HILO-KOMOD solution, which corresponds to approximately 300 drops, and contributes to its most economical dosing.
Side effects
Since the HILO-COMOD drops do not contain preservatives, they are well tolerated even with prolonged use. It was reported about extremely rare cases of hypersensitivity reactions, such as burning or tearing, which disappeared immediately after stopping the use of drops. Other ophthalmic drops or ointments should be applied 30 minutes after instillation of the CHILO-KOMOD.
Interaction with other drugs
In the case of joint use with ophthalmic preparations, it is recommended to observe the interval of at least 30 minutes between instillation of the HILO-COMOD solution and the use of eye drops. Eye ointments should always be applied after instillation of the solution CHILO-COMOD.
