Pharmacological effect
Naxogin Tablets is an antiprotozoal drug that has significant activity against Entamoeba histolytica, Lamblia intestinalis, Trichomonas vaginalis, as well as strains of Giardia intestinalis. The activity of the drug Naxogin is also noted against strains of anaerobic bacteria (including Gardnerella vaginalis and Bacteroides). The drug contains nimorazole, a substance belonging to the second generation of 5-nitroimidazoles. The mechanism of action of nimorazole is similar to that of all drugs derived from 5-nitroimidazole. Nimorazol accumulates to the cells of the simplest and the specific intracellular enzymes of the simplest restore the nitro group. Contraindications

Use during pregnancy and lactation
The use of Naxogin pills during lactation and pregnancy is strictly prohibited (nimorazole may have a mutagenic effect).

Side effects

Overdose

Interaction with other drugs
It is forbidden to take drugs containing ethyl alcohol, as well as drinking alcohol during treatment with nimorazole and for 2 days after taking the last dose of nimorazol (as there is a risk of a disulfiram-like reaction). Naxodin potentiates the anticoagulant effect of warfarin. When combined with nimorazole, it decreases clearance of lithium and phenytoin preparations.
