Pharmacological effect
Pantogam is a nootropic drug that improves brain function. It has a positive effect on mental activity and memory. The active ingredient of Pantogam is calcium gopantenate. Improving the stability of the brain to oxygen starvation and reducing the effects of toxic substances on it - the main properties of the drug. Pantogam has anticonvulsant and moderate sedative effects. Along with this, he is able to gently increase working capacity (both mental and physical). It inhibits pathological muscle tension in the gall and bladder. In chronic alcoholism Pantogam has a calming and relaxing effect, which greatly facilitates the condition of a patient suffering from alcohol intoxication. It also improves blood flow to the brain.
Indications

Contraindications

Use during pregnancy and lactation
Use in the first trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated.
Dosage and administration
Inside, 15-20 minutes after meals, 1-3 capsules (0.3-0.9 g) 2-3 times a day, preferably in the morning and afternoon hours. The maximum daily dose of 8 capsules (2.4 g). The course of treatment is 1-4 months, sometimes up to 6-12 months. After 3-6 months, it is possible to repeat the course of treatment.
Side effects

Overdose

Interaction with other drugs
Prolongs the effect of barbiturates, enhances the effects of anticonvulsants, nootropic and CNS stimulating agents, the action of local anesthetics (procaine). Prevents the side effects of phenobarbital, carbamazepine, antipsychotics (neuroleptics).

Long-term therapy with hopantenic acid in combination with other nootropic and CNS-stimulating agents is not recommended.
