These substances have a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, including effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The drug has a bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect due to the destruction of the bacterial cell membrane. In addition, 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol dehydrates the cells of microorganisms, which leads to their death.
