Pharmacological effect
Infusion of rhizomes valerian with roots has a sedative and antispasmodic (with respect to the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract and urinary system) action. Facilitates the onset of natural sleep. Sedation is slow, but stable enough.
Indications
Increased nervous excitability, sleep disturbances, functional disorders of the cardiovascular system, spasms of the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of Valerian.
Precautionary measures
Before use, infusion of Valerian rhizomes with roots is recommended to shake.
Dosage and administration
3 filter package (4.5 g) is placed in a glass or enamel bowl, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover and infuse for 15 minutes. The volume of the resulting infusion is brought to 100 ml with boiled water.
Side effects
In some cases: hypersensitivity reactions; when used in high doses - lethargy, depression, weakness, decreased performance.
Interaction with other drugs
With simultaneous use with drugs that have a depressant effect on the central nervous system, their action is potentiated.

With long-term use of the drug in large doses may decrease psychomotor reactions - caution should be exercised when driving vehicles, working with mechanisms, etc.
