Description
Zovirax Eye Ointment is an antiviral drug that is highly effective against herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 and type 2 and varicella zoster virus.

Herpes simplex type 1 and 2 keratitis.
Precautionary measures
You may experience a slight burning sensation after applying Zovirax ophthalmic ointment, passing spontaneously. Contact lenses should not be worn during drug therapy.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Use of the drug during pregnancy is possible when the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. When it enters the systemic circulation of the mother, acyclovir penetrates into breast milk, but the amount of the drug that the child can receive when using an eye ointment is negligible.
Dosage and administration
For adults and children, the drug in the form of a strip of ointment with a length of 10 mm should be placed in the lower conjunctival sac. The frequency of application is 5 times / day with an interval of about 4 hours. Therapy should be continued for 3 more days after healing.
Side effects
Side effects are given in accordance with the frequency of occurrence during clinical studies: very often -> 10%, often - from> 1% to <10%, sometimes - from> 0.1% to <1%, rarely - from> 0.01% to < 0.1%, very rarely - <0.01%. Allergic reactions: very rarely - immediate type hypersensitivity reactions (including angioedema). On the part of the organ of vision: sometimes - punctate superficial keratopathy (does not require cessation of treatment and disappears without consequences) , often - a slight burning sensation (transient with time), sometimes - conjunctivitis, rarely - blepharitis.
Overdose
An overdose of Zovirax eye ointment is unlikely.
Interaction with other drugs
