1 tablet contains: Active substances: chondroitin sulfate sodium 500 mg, glucosamine hydrochloride 500 mg.; Excipients: calcium sulfate disubstituted - 230 mg, microcrystalline cellulose - 185 mg, croscarmellose sodium - 80 mg, stearic acid - 70 mg, magnesium stearate - 10 mg.; Shell composition: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose - 35 mg, titanium dioxide (E171) - 8.2 mg, triacetin - 6.8 mg.
Pharmacological effect
Artra is a stimulator of cartilage tissue regeneration. ; Glucosamine and chondroitin sodium sulfate are involved in the biosynthesis of connective tissue, helping to prevent the processes of cartilage destruction and stimulating tissue regeneration. The administration of exogenous glucosamine enhances the production of cartilage matrix and provides non-specific protection against chemical damage to cartilage. Another possible function of glucosamine is to protect damaged cartilage from metabolic destruction caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and glucocorticosteroids (GCS), as well as its own moderate anti-inflammatory effect. Chondroitin sodium sulfate, regardless of whether it is absorbed in an intact form or as separate components, serves as an additional substrate for the formation of a healthy cartilage matrix. Stimulates the formation of hyaluronon, the synthesis of proteoglycans and type II collagen, and also protects hyaluronon from enzymatic degradation (by suppressing the activity of hyaluronidase) and from the damaging effects of free radicals; maintains the viscosity of synovial fluid, stimulates the mechanisms of cartilage repair and inhibits the activity of those enzymes (elastase, hyaluronidase) that break down cartilage. In the treatment of osteoarthritis, it relieves the symptoms of the disease and reduces the need for NSAIDs.
Indications
The combination of Glucosamine and Chondroitin is recommended for adults and elderly people in the complex treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system and other conditions accompanied by degenerative-dystrophic changes in the tissues of the articular cartilage and connective tissue: osteoarthritis of the I-III degree, includinglarge joints (gonarthrosis), osteoarthritis; osteocondritis of the spine; periodontal diseases; humeroscapular periarthritis; spondyllosis; chondromalacia patella; deformation of the joints (subluxations, ankylosis); increased functional load on the joints (overweight, physical activity); prevention of joint diseases in the elderly; to reduce the effects of fractures, accelerate the formation of callus.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to glucosamine, chondroitin or any other component of the drug; severe renal dysfunction (for oral administration); pregnancy and breastfeeding; children under 12 years old. Preparations of Glucosamine and Chondroitin are used with caution: bleeding or bleeding tendency.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
Dosage and administration
Glucosamine and Chondroitin capsules / pills. Assign inside, adults and children over 15 years old, before eating, squeezed small amounts of water. The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. Usually, during the first 3 weeks of taking the drugs, they are prescribed at the rate of 1000-1500 mg of glucosamine hydrochloride + 1000-1200 mg of chondroitin sulfate per day, divided into 2-3 doses. During the following weeks and months - 500-1000 mg of glucosamine hydrochloride + 500-800 mg of chondroitin sulfate per day, divided into 2 doses. Pain relief and restoration of cartilage tissue does not occur immediately, so the course of treatment should be long. The minimum admission rate is 3 months. A sustained therapeutic effect is achieved when taking at least 6 months. Glucosamine and Chondroitin in the composition of the ointment / cream. Apply externally; Apply a thin layer on intact skin over the lesion site 2-3 times a day, rubbing with massage movements for 2-3 minutes, until absorbed. Duration of use - up to 6 months. It is recommended that the combined use of cream / ointment and capsules / pills to achieve the optimal concentration of active substances in the joints.
Side effects
May be observed in case of overdose or hypersensitivity to the components of the drugs: dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract (nausea, epigastric pain, flatulence, diarrhea / constipation), dizziness, allergic reactions.
Overdose
Symptoms: cases of overdose are unknown. ; Treatment of gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.
Interaction with other drugs
The combination of Glucosamine and Chondroitin increases the absorption of tetracyclines (doxycycline) from the gastrointestinal tract, reduces the effect of semi-synthetic penicillins (oxacillin, ampicillin, amoxicillin, amoxiclav) and chloramphenicol. Increases the absorption of tetracyclines, reduces the effect of semi-synthetic penicillins. The drug is compatible with NSAIDs and SCS.
