Pharmacological effect
Synthetic analogue of histamine. It acts like histamine mainly on histamine H1 receptors. Causes expansion of precapillaries, in particular, facilitates microcirculation in the maze. In addition, betahistine regulates endolymph pressure in the labyrinth and cochlea, leading to clinical improvement in vertigo of various etiologies. Reduces the frequency and intensity of dizziness, reduces tinnitus, improves hearing in cases of its decline. Increases the tone of the smooth muscles of the bronchi, gastrointestinal tract. May cause increased secretion of gastric juice.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration of betahistine, the dihydrochloride is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Plasma protein binding is low. Almost completely excreted in the urine within 24 hours. T1 / 2 - 3-4 hours.
Indications
Vestibular vertigo. Syndromes characterized by dizziness and headache, tinnitus, progressive hearing loss, nausea and vomiting, Meniere's disease / syndrome.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug. Pheochromocytoma. Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute phase.

Use during pregnancy and lactation
Not recommended for use in the first trimester of pregnancy and lactation. Caution should be used in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy.
Dosage and administration
