Pharmacological effect
Belongs to vitamins of group B, is a derivative of pantothenic acid. It plays an important role in the processes of acetylation and oxidation, participates in carbohydrate and fat metabolism, in the synthesis of acetylcholine, corticosteroids, porphyrins. It has a pronounced effect on the formation and function of epithelial tissue, has some anti-inflammatory activity.
Pharmacokinetics
Dexpanthenol is rapidly absorbed by the skin (quickly absorbed) and turns into pantothenic acid. It binds to plasma proteins (mainly albumin and β-globulin).
Indications
- dry skin; - wounds and burns; - dermatitis, pressure sores, diaper rash, abscesses, boils after opening and sanation; - aseptic postoperative wounds, poorly engrained skin grafts; - treatment and prevention of cracks and inflammation of the nipples of the breast during lactation; - care for infants: prevention and treatment of diaper rash in infants, activation of the skin healing process for minor injuries, erythema from diapers. Contraindications

Dexpanthenol may be used during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) according to indications.
Dosage and administration

Interaction with other drugs
