When administered by ingestion and inhalation, eucalyptus drugs cause expectorant, mucolytic and bronchodilator effects, and when applied to the skin astringent, antiexudative, antipruritic, anesthetic, and in higher concentrations, an irritant effect. The infusion of eucalyptus leaves, thanks to the essential oil and a small amount of bitterness, increases the secretion of digestive glands, improves digestion. When used in the form of tincture, a sedative effect is observed, caused by isovalerianic acid aldehyde. Chlorophyllipt, containing a mixture of chlorophylls from eucalyptus leaves, has antimicrobial, especially antistaphylococcal, activity, stimulates regeneration processes.
