Description
Micardis is an antihypertensive drug. The active substance telmisartan is a specific angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Dosage and administration
The drug is prescribed by mouth, regardless of the meal. In hypertension, the recommended initial dose of Micardis is 40 mg 1 time / day. In cases where the therapeutic effect is not achieved, the dose of the drug can be increased to 80 mg 1 time / day. When deciding whether to increase the dose should be taken into account that the maximum antihypertensive effect is usually achieved within 4-8 weeks after the start of treatment. To reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, the recommended dose is 80 mg 1 time / day. In the initial period of treatment, additional correction of blood pressure may be required.
Side effects
Nervous system disorders: headache, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, depression, convulsions. On the part of the respiratory system: upper respiratory tract infections (including pharyngitis, sinusitis, bronchitis), cough. Since the cardiovascular system: marked lowering of blood pressure, bradycardia, tachycardia, chest pain. On the part of the digestive system: nausea, dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal pain, increased activity of "liver" transaminases. On the part of the musculoskeletal system: myalgia, arthralgia, back pain, symptoms of tendonitis. On the part of the urinary system: peripheral edema, urinary tract infection, hypercreatininemia. Allergic reactions: skin rash, etc.Laboratory indicators: rarely - hyperkalemia, anemia or hyperuricemia. Other: flu-like syndrome, rarely - erythema, pruritus, syncope, dyspnea, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia, angioedema, urticaria.
Overdose
Cases of overdose in humans have not been identified. Symptoms: marked reduction in blood pressure. Treatment: in the event of a pronounced decrease in blood pressure, symptomatic therapy should be carried out. Hemodialysis is not effective.
Interaction with other drugs
With simultaneous use with antihypertensive drugs may increase antihypertensive action. With simultaneous use with potassium-sparing diuretics, heparin, dietary supplements, potassium-containing salt substitutes, hyperkalemia may develop. With simultaneous use with lithium preparations may increase the concentration of lithium in the blood plasma. With simultaneous use may increase the concentration of digoxin in the blood plasma.
