Composition
In 1 suppositories: Metronidazole (metronidazole) 500 mg; miconazole (miconazole) 100 mg. Excipients: Witepsol S55 (1.9 g / 1 supp.).
Indications
Topical treatment: vaginal candidiasis; trichomonas vulvovaginitis; bacterial vaginosis (also caused by nonspecific vaginitis, anaerobic vaginosis, or congestive vaginitis); mixed vaginal infection.
Contraindications
Severe abnormal liver function (including porphyria); diseases of the peripheral nervous system and central nervous system; disorders of hemopoiesis; I trimester of pregnancy; patients under the age of 14 years; virginity; hypersensitivity to the drug.
Precautionary measures
In the case of trichomoniasis, the simultaneous treatment of a sexual partner is advisable.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Appointment of Neo-Penotran contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy. In the II and III trimester of pregnancy, the use of Neo-Penotran is possible only in cases where the intended benefit of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. metronidazole is excreted in breast milk. Breastfeeding can be resumed 24-48 hours after the end of treatment.
Dosage and administration

Side effects
Local reactions: burning, itching, irritation of the mucous membrane of the vagina (2-6%). These complications quickly disappear after stopping treatment.In case of severe irritation, treatment should be discontinued. Overdose

Interaction with other drugs
With the simultaneous use of metronidazole with ethanol disulfiram-like reactions occur. At simultaneous use of metronidazole it increases the effect of indirect anticoagulants. If used simultaneously with lithium preparations, an increase in lithium may occur. the use of metronidazole with phenytoin increases the level of phenytoin in the blood, and the level of metronidazole in the blood decreases Phenobarbital reduces blood levels of metronidazole when used simultaneously. When used with cimetidine, blood levels of metronidazole can increase and, consequently, the risk of neurological side effects increases. Metronidazole and miconazole inhibit the metabolism of astemizole and terfenadine, as a result, astemizole and terfenadine increase in blood plasma. It is possible to change the concentration of theophylline and procainamide in the blood plasma with simultaneous use with Neo-Penotran.
