Composition
Natamycin (natamycin) 100 mg. Excipients: cetyl alcohol - 690 mg, solid fat - 700 mg, sorbitan trioleate - 460 mg, polysorbate 80 - 460 mg, sodium bicarbonate - 69 mg, adipic acid - 64 mg.
Pharmacological effect
Antifungal polyene antibiotic from the group of macrolides, which has a wide spectrum of action. It has a fungicidal effect. Natamycin binds the sterols of the cell membrane of a fungus cell, violating its integrity and function, which leads to cell death. Most pathogenic yeast fungi, especially Candida albicans, are sensitive to natamycin. Dermatophytes are less sensitive to natamycin. Natamycin is not marked in clinical practice.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied to the skin and mucous membranes, practically does not undergo systemic absorption, and therefore does not have a systemic effect.
Indications
Vaginitis, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, caused mainly by fungi of the genus Candida

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

In the case of chronic or recurrent infection, local treatment can be supplemented by the prescription of Pimafucin in the form of pills and cream for external use. The cetyl alcohol, which is part of vaginal suppositories, can cause a slight burning sensation with increased sensitivity to this component.
Use during pregnancy and lactation

Dosage and administration
Assign 1 vaginal suppository for 3-6 days. The suppository is inserted into the vagina in the prone position, as deep as possible, 1 time per day for the night. In case of persistent flow of vaginitis caused by Candida albicans, Pimafucin is also prescribed; in the form of pills for oral administration (1 tab. 4 times / day for 10-20 days) for the rehabilitation of the nidus of candidal infection in the intestine. For the treatment of candidal lesions of the genital organs of the partner, Pimafucin is used; in the form of a cream. The duration of treatment is set individually. After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, it is recommended to continue the treatment for a few more days.
