Pharmacological effect
Hepatoprotective drug of plant origin. It has hepatoprotective and anti-toxic effects. The therapeutic effect is due to the effect on the metabolism of hepatocytes. It activates the synthesis of proteins and enzymes in hepatocytes, has a stabilizing effect on the hepatocyte membrane, inhibits the penetration of toxins into the liver cells, inhibits dystrophic and potentiates the regenerative processes in the liver.
Indications
Hepatitis of various genesis, liver cirrhosis, toxic liver damage (including medicinal, alcoholic, heavy metal compounds), fatty hepatosis.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
It is not recommended to prescribe the drug during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
Dosage and administration
Silymar is used in adults and children over 12 years old by mouth 1-2 pills 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is from 25 days to 1.5 months. In chronic diseases, it is advisable to repeat courses of treatment after 1-3 months. For prophylactic purposes, Silimar is recommended to be taken for chronic intoxications (including professional), long-term medication and alcohol.
