Composition

100 ml contains: oregano oil 20 mg, peppermint oil 140 mg, phenobarbital 2 g, α-bromoisovaleric acid ethyl ester 2 g.

Pharmacological effect

Combined drug. Α-Bromizovalerianic acid ethyl ester is a sedative, mild hypnotic and antispasmodic. Phenobarbital has a vasodilating and sedative effect, sleeping pills (in appropriate doses). Mint oil has a reflex vasodilator and antispasmodic activity.

Indications

Valoserdine is prescribed as a sedative and vasodilator for the following diseases and conditions: functional disorders of the cardiovascular system. Neurosis-like conditions accompanied by increased irritability. Disturbed sleep. Tachycardia. A state of agitation with pronounced vegetative manifestations.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug. Severe renal and / or liver function. Porphyria. Pregnancy. Breastfeeding period. Age up to 18 years. In connection with the content of absolute ethanol more than 3 g in a daily dose of valoserdin is contraindicated in patients with liver diseases, alcoholism, traumatic brain injury and brain diseases.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Contraindications: pregnancy; lactation period.

Dosage and administration

Inside, before meals, pre-dissolved in a small amount (30-50 ml) of water. Adults are usually prescribed 15–20 drops 3 times a day. With tachycardia, a single dose can be increased up to 40-50 drops. The duration of the drug is determined individually by a doctor.

Side effects

Valoserdine is generally well tolerated even with prolonged use. In some cases, during the daytime drowsiness and slight dizziness may be observed. With long-term use of large doses, chronic bromine poisoning may develop, characterized by the following manifestations: depressive mood, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, hemorrhagic diathesis, impaired coordination of movements. If any adverse (unusual) effects that are not reflected in the description appear, they should be reported to the attending physician.

Overdose

Symptoms: with mild and moderate intoxication - drowsiness, dizziness, psychomotor disturbances; in severe cases - lowering blood pressure, respiratory failure, tachycardia, collapse, decreased peripheral reflexes, coma. Treatment: gastric lavage, taking activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy.

Interaction with other drugs

With simultaneous use with sedatives - enhancing the effect. May increase the toxicity of methotrexate. Simultaneous use with neuroleptics and anxiolytics enhances, and with CNS stimulants, it weakens the effect of each of the components of the drug. Ethanol enhances the effects of the drug and may increase its toxicity. Phenobarbital reduces the antibacterial activity of antibiotics and sulfonamides, the antifungal effect of griseofulvin (decreases absorption), the effectiveness of indirect anticoagulants, GCS, doxycycline, estrogens and other drugs metabolized in the liver along the oxidation path (accelerates their destruction).
