The drug with antibacterial action for external use. The mechanism of antimicrobial action of sulfathiazole - the inhibition of growth and reproduction of microbes - is associated with competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid and the inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, which leads to a violation of the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid and, ultimately, its active metabolite - tetrahydrofolic acid, required for synthesis of purinthromoids. . Pharmacokinetics
Silver sulfathiazole contained in the preparation has a low solubility, as a result of which after topical administration the concentration of the active substance in the wound is maintained at the same level for a long time. Only a small amount of silver sulfathiazole is in the bloodstream, after which it undergoes acetylation in the liver. In the urine, it is in the form of inactive metabolites and partially unchanged. Silver sulfathiazol absorption increases after application on extensive wound surfaces.
Indications

Contraindications

Side effects
Possible: allergic reactions, local reactions (burning, itching, flushing of the skin). With prolonged use, leukopenia, desquamata dermatitis are possible.
Overdose
Cases of overdose are not registered.
Interaction with other drugs
It is not recommended to use simultaneously with other local drugs. Folic acid and its structural analogues can weaken the antimicrobial action of sulfathiazole.
