Pharmacological effect
Vasoconstrictor drug for local use in ENT practice. Naftizin stimulates alpha2-adrenoreceptors, reduces puffiness, hyperemia, exudation of the mucous membrane. Relieves nasal breathing in rhinitis.
Indications
Sinusitis rinitlaringitevshiitrinoskopiya (to facilitate the holding).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, arterial hypertension, hyperthyroidism, marked atherosclerosis, tachycardia, simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors and a period of up to 14 days after the end of their use, children's age.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Naphazoline use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) is possible only under strict indications in cases where the expected therapeutic effect for the mother outweighs the potential risk of side effects in the fetus or child.
Dosage and administration
Intranasal (in each nasal passage), adults - 1-3 drops 3-4 times a day.
Side effects
Local reactions: irritation of the mucous membrane (depending on the place of use); when used for more than 1 week - swelling of the mucous membrane, atrophic rhinitis. From the side of the cardiovascular system: reactive hyperemia, tachycardia, increased blood pressure. From the side of the central nervous system: headache. From the side of the digestive system: nausea.
Interaction with other drugs
It should not be used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days after the end of their use. Naphazoline slows down the absorption of local anesthetic agents (lengthens their action when performing surface anesthesia).
special instructions
It is not recommended for chronic rhinitis. With prolonged use, it should be borne in mind that the vasoconstrictive effect gradually decreases (the phenomenon of tachyphylaxis), so after 5-7 days of use it is recommended to take a break for several days.
