Pharmacokinetics
After ingestion of sodium picosulfate enters the colon. The absorption of the drug is negligible, which excludes its enterohepatic circulation. In the colon, sodium picosulfate is cleaved to form the active metabolite, bis- (p-hydroxyphenyl) -pyridyl-2-methane.
