Pharmacological effect
Antimicrobial drug of a broad spectrum, nitrofuran derivative. It has antibacterial, antiprotozoal and antifungal effects. Nifuratel has high efficacy and low toxicity, which causes a wide range of its clinical use. It is highly effective against Papiliobacter and Helicobacter pylori (especially metronidazole-resistant Helicobacter pylori strains), gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri 2a, Shigella flexneri 6, Shigella sonnei, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enteridis, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Serratia spe. ., Pragia fontium, Budvicia aquatica, Rachnella aquatilis and Acinetobacter s pp., other atypical enterobacteria, as well as protozoa (amoeba, Giardia); less active against Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is the drug of choice for the treatment of bacterial intestinal infections, incl. salmonella, shigellosis. Active against Trichomonas vaginalis; highly active against fungi of the genus Candida. It is completely excreted from the body by the kidneys, providing a strong antibacterial effect in the urinary tract.
Pharmacokinetics
After taking the drug inside nifuratel quickly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It penetrates the BBB and placental barriers, is excreted in breast milk. Metabolized in the liver and muscle tissue. Fully excreted in the urine (30-50% unchanged).
Indications
- chronic inflammatory diseases of the upper GI tract associated with Helicobacter pylori; - intestinal amebiasis; - giardiasis; - vulvovaginal infections caused by susceptible pathogens (trichomonas, chlamydia, Candida fungi, bacteria); - urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis, urethritis, cystitis, pyelitis).
Contraindications
- deficiency of sucrase / isomaltase, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome; - hypersensitivity to the drug components.

Use during pregnancy and lactation
Use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only under strict indications, if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus, since nifuratel penetrates the placental barrier. If you need to use the drug during lactation, you should decide on the termination of breastfeeding, because nifuratel is excreted in breast milk.
Dosage and administration
The drug is taken orally. In inflammatory diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract associated with Helicobacter pylori, adults are prescribed 2 pills each. 2-3 times / day; children - at a dose of 30 mg / kg / day in 2-3 doses. The duration of treatment is 7 days. In intestinal amebiasis, adults are prescribed 2 tab. 2-3 times / day for 10 days. For children, the recommended dose is 30 mg / kg / day in 2-3 doses. For giardiasis, 2 tab. 2-3 times / day; children - at a dose of 30 mg / kg / day in 2-3 doses. The duration of treatment is 7 days. In case of urinary tract infections in adults, depending on the severity of the disease, the drug is prescribed in 1-2 tab. 3 times / day for 7-14 days. For children, the recommended dose is 30-60 mg / kg / day in 2 doses. According to the recommendation of the doctor, the treatment can be extended or repeated. In case of vaginal infections, adults are prescribed 1 tab. 3 times / day for 7 days (both sexual partners must take the drug). For children, the recommended daily dose is 10 mg / kg / day in 2 divided doses daily for 10 days.
Side effects

Overdose

Interaction with other drugs
MacMiror enhances the antifungal effects of nystatin when used together.
