Composition

On 1 ml: dexamethasone 1 mg. Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, purified water.

Pharmacological effect

GKS for local use in ophthalmology. It has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing effect. Dexamethasone actively suppresses inflammatory processes by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators by eosinophils, the migration of mast cells and reducing the capillary permeability. The preparation does not possess mineralocorticoid activity.

Indications

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Dosage and administration

The drug is instilled 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (or eyes) every 3-6 hours.

Side effects

On the part of the organ of vision: with prolonged local application of GCS, there may be noted: an increase in intraocular pressure with possible subsequent development of glaucoma; the formation of posterior subcapsular cataracts; slowing the wound healing process (in case of diseases that cause thinning of the cornea or sclera, perforation of the fibrous membrane is possible). After using drugs containing GCS, a secondary infection (including fungal infection) may develop, as a result of suppression of the patient’s defensive response.
