Composition
In 1 ml., Liquids: Xylometazoline hydrochloride 1 ml. Excipients: benzalkonium chloride - 0.1 mg, sodium chloride - 5 mg, disodium edetate - 0.5 mg, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate - 6 mg, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate - 3.5 mg, eucalyptus oil - 0.85 mg, water d / and - up to 1 ml.
Pharmacological effect
Vasoconstrictor drug for local use in ENT practice. Xylometazoline (an imidazoline derivative) is an alpha adrenergic mimic, causes constriction of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating its swelling and hyperemia, restores nasal passivity, facilitates nasal breathing and improves discharge of nasal discharge during rhinitis (rhinitis) of various origin. The effect of the drug occurs a few minutes after its use and lasts up to 10 hours.
Indications
Acute rhinitis (including on the background of acute respiratory diseases and allergic rhinitis). sinusitis. Eustachitis. otitis media (as part of combination therapy to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa). to facilitate rhinoscopy. preparation of patients for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages.
Contraindications
Arterial hypertension . tachycardia. pronounced atherosclerosis. glaucoma atrophic rhinitis. hyperthyroidism. surgery on the meninges (in history). pregnancy (for nasal drops). children's age up to 2 years. children up to 6 years old (for nasal drops of 0.1% and nasal spray 0.1%). Hypersensitivity to the drug components (including to eucalyptus oil). Do not use in the treatment of MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants, as well as with other drugs that increase blood pressure.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug Renorus. in the form of nasal drops is contraindicated for use in pregnancy. The drug Renorus. in the form of a nasal spray during pregnancy should be used only after a careful assessment of the ratio of benefits to the mother and the risk to the fetus, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended doses. During the period of breastfeeding the drug should be prescribed with caution.
Dosage and administration
Adults and children over 6 years old are instilled with nasal drops of 0.1%, 2-3 drops in each nasal passage 3-4 times / day.Children from 2 to 6 years old are instilled with nasal drops of 0.05%, 1-2 drops in each nasal passage 1-2 times / day. Do not use more than 3 times / day. The duration of treatment is no more than 3-5 days (without a break). Before using the drug, unscrew the cap of the vial and instill into the nose by gently pressing the bottom of the vial.
Side effects
Local reactions: with frequent and / or prolonged use - irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion. rarely - swelling of the nasal mucosa.
