Pharmacological effect
Means for external use. Suppresses the secretion of sebaceous and sweat glands. In low concentrations has keratoplastic, and in high - keratolytic effect. It has a weak antimicrobial activity.
Indications
Monotherapy and as part of a combination of drugs for inflammatory, infectious and other skin lesions, including burns, psoriasis, eczema, dyskeratosis, ichthyosis, acne vulgaris, warts, hyperkeratosis, corns, callousness, oily seborrhea, tinea; hair loss; sweaty feet.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, renal failure, infancy.
Dosage and administration
Locally, put on the lesion (ointment - a thin layer) and cover with a sterile cloth or apply a sterile dressing soaked in ointment. Before applying the dressing, the wound is cleaned of necrotic tissues, opened up with blisters, washed with an antiseptic solution. The dressing is changed 1 time in 2–3 days until complete purification from purulent-necrotic masses. Consumption of ointment for one dressing depends on the size of the wound and averages 0.2 g per 1 cm2 of the wound surface. The duration of treatment is on average 6–20 days. Outwardly, the affected surface is treated with an alcohol solution 2-3 times a day.
Side effects
Local irritation (itching, burning sensation at the site of application), allergic reactions.
Interaction with other drugs
Pharmaceutically incompatible with resorcinol (forms molten mixtures) and zinc oxide (forms insoluble zinc salicylate).
