Description
Tetracycline ointment is a broad spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic from the tetracycline group.

Composition
Active substance: tetracycline hydrochloride - 3.226 g. Auxiliary substances: anhydrous lanolin, ceresin, sodium disulfite (sodium pyrosulfite), petrolatum.
Pharmacological effect
The main effect of the drug is aimed at suppressing protein synthesis in the cells of the pathogen, as a result, a bacteriostatic effect is observed.
Indications
Purulent infections of soft tissues, furunculosis, eczema infected, rash, acne, folliculitis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, children's age (up to 11 years).
Dosage and administration
The ointment is applied to the affected skin 1-2 times a day (it is possible to apply an occlusive dressing).
Side effects
Allergic reactions: burning, skin flushing, swelling, or other signs of irritation.
Interaction with other drugs
Tetracycline hydrochloride forms difficultly soluble complexes with calcium, iron and other metals, and therefore you should not take the drug simultaneously with milk and dairy products (because of their calcium content), with antacids containing aluminum, calcium, magnesium salts, as well as with iron preparations.
special instructions
Not recommended for deep or stab wounds, severe burns, in ophthalmology (use 1% eye ointment).
