Pharmacological effect

It causes muscle relaxation, increases blood flow, facilitates the removal of irritating metabolic products (especially lactic acid), and also allows you to increase the duration of exercise due to the warming effect and improves their tolerance. Racemol The irritating effect of racemol helps to reduce pain. Local action is accompanied by the expansion of blood vessels, causing a feeling of cooling, turning into a feeling of light burning and pricking, with a subsequent analgesic effect. Methyl allycate Methyl salicylate is an anti-inflammatory analgesic. Non-selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase, reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins. Normalizes the increased permeability of capillaries, improves microcirculation processes, reduces swelling and infiltration of inflamed tissues.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied externally, the concentration of racecentol in the systemic circulation is negligible. When applied externally, methyl salicylate penetrates the tissues through the unchanged skin, and the analgesic concentration in the systemic circulation is not reached. The action is only local. Salicylates are eliminated mainly by the kidneys, the rate of elimination depends on the plasma concentration and urine pH.

Indications

to reduce pain and stiffness in the joints and muscles with injuries, sprains and inflammation to reduce pain in the lower back with myalgia (muscle pain) before and after playing sports.

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to any component of the drug violation of the integrity of the skin and inflammatory skin diseases at the site of application, children under 12 years of pregnancy (III trimester)

Precautionary measures

With care pregnancy (I-II trimester) breastfeeding intolerance salicylates Ray's syndrome

Use during pregnancy and lactation

When released into the systemic circulation, salicylates penetrate the placental barrier and into the milk of lactating women and can adversely affect the fetus, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy (for example, cause premature closure of the ductus arteriosus or prolonged labor). Despite the fact that the local administration of methyl salicylates is not expected to increase their plasma concentration to levels that are dangerous to the fetus, when deciding on the possibility of prescribing the drug during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, the expected benefit of the drug therapy for the mother and the potential risk for fetus and baby.

Dosage and administration

Outwardly. Apply a thin layer of cream directly on the painful area and gently rub until it is completely absorbed. If necessary, the procedure is repeated every few hours (up to 3-4 times a day) for 10 days.

Side effects

Very often (≥1 / 10), often (≥1 / 100, <1/10), infrequently (≥1 / 1000, <1/100), rarely (≥1 / 10000, <1/1000), very rarely (<1/10000). Post-marketing data: Immune system disorders: angioedema (very rare). Disturbances of the respiratory system, organs of the chest and mediastinum: shortness of breath in the context of hypersensitivity (very rarely). General disorders and disorders at the site of administration: reactions at the site of application (including blisters, burning, flushing, erythema, irritation, pain, paresthesia, urticaria, itching and rash) (very rarely). Injuries, intoxication and complications of manipulation: burns at the site of use (very rarely).

Overdose

An overdose of racemicol and methyl salicylate was observed in some cases, mainly in children, with the occasional ingestion of drugs containing these substances. Overdose when applied topically occurs rarely and only if the drug is used improperly (applied to mucous membranes, to large areas of damaged or infected skin). Symptoms of overdose with methyl salicylate: agitation, increased depth of respiration, hyperpyrexia. Symptoms of a racemicol overdose include nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and symptoms of central nervous system depression, such as dizziness, unsteady gait, flushing of blood to the face, drowsiness, respiratory depression, and coma.Treatment: symptomatic and supportive; correction of electrolyte and water balance, the appointment of adsorbents and saline laxatives, forced diuresis, external cooling of the body; in severe cases - blood transfusion, hemodialysis.

Interaction with other drugs

The drug causes flushing of the skin and reflexively increases blood circulation in the subcutaneous tissue, thus, the combined use with other drugs of local action can lead to increased absorption. In patients sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid, with the external use of methyl salicylate, allergic skin reactions were observed, as well as angioedema. When combined with acetylsalicylic acid, toxic effects of salicylates can be observed. Patients using anticoagulants, such as warfarin, may experience bleeding because this drug contains salicylate.
