Nifuroxazide 200 mg; Excipients: sucrose - 71 mg, corn starch - 68 mg, microcrystalline cellulose - 9 mg, magnesium stearate - 2 mg.; Capsule shell: gelatin - 94.08 mg, titanium dioxide (E171) - 1.92 mg.
Pharmacological effect
Broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections (intestinal antiseptic), a nitrofuran derivative. It has a bactericidal effect in high doses, and a bacteriostatic effect in smaller doses. Active against gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp .; Gram-negative bacteria: Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp.
Pharmacokinetics
Practically not absorbed from the digestive tract. Acts in the intestinal lumen.
Indications
Acute diarrhea of bacterial genesis (in the absence of suspicion of invasion).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to nitrofuran derivatives.; Do not use in newborns (up to 1 month old) and premature babies.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Perhaps the use of nifuroxazide during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) according to indications.
Dosage and administration
Adults - 200 mg 4 times / day. Children aged 1 month to 2.5 years - 100 mg 2-3 times / day; over 2.5 years old - 200 mg 3 times / day. Duration of treatment is no more than 7 days.

Interaction with other drugs
Simultaneous use of ethanol may cause symptoms of hypersensitivity.
special instructions
The use of nifuroxazide does not exclude the need for rehydration therapy in the event that there are symptoms of dehydration. Before use in children older than 1 month should exclude congenital deficiency of enzymes that break down sucrose.
