Pharmacological effect
Pantogam is a nootropic drug that improves brain function. It has a positive effect on mental activity and memory. The active ingredient of Pantogam is calcium gopantenate. Improving the stability of the brain to oxygen starvation and reducing the effects of toxic substances on it - the main properties of the drug. Pantogam has anticonvulsant and moderate sedative effects. Along with this, he is able to gently increase working capacity (both mental and physical). It inhibits pathological muscle tension in the gall and bladder. In chronic alcoholism Pantogam has a calming and relaxing effect, which greatly facilitates the condition of a patient suffering from alcohol intoxication. It also improves blood flow to the brain.
Indications
Cognitive impairment in organic brain lesions (including the effects of neuroinfections and traumatic brain injuries) andeurotic disorders; schizophrenia with cerebral organic deficiency; cerebrovascular insufficiency caused by atherosclerotic changes of cerebral vessels; extrapyramidal disorders (myoclonus epilepsy, Huntington's chorea, hepatolenticular degeneration, Parkinson's disease and others), as well as for the treatment and prevention of extrapyramidal syndrome (hyperkinetic and akinetic) caused by the use of neuroleptic; epilepsy with a slowdown of mental processes in complex therapy with anticonvulsants; psycho-emotional overload, reduced mental and physical performance, to improve the concentration of attention and recall; neurogenic urination disorders (pollakiuria, urgency, imperative urinary incontinence, enuresis); children with perinatal encephalopathy, mental retardation of varying severity, developmental delay (mental, speech, motor, or a combination thereof), various forms of cerebral palsy, hyperkinetic disorders (attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome), neurosis-like states (with stuttering,predominantly slope form; tikah). The drug is used in children older than 3 years. At an earlier age, it is recommended to take the drug in the form of syrup.
Contraindications

Dosage and administration

In extrapyramidal hyperkinesis in patients with hereditary diseases of the nervous system in combination with therapy from 0.5 to 3 g per day. The course of treatment is up to 4 months or more. With the effects of neuroinfections and head injuries, 0.25 g 3-4 times a day. To restore health at increased loads and asthenic conditions, Pantogum is prescribed 0.25 g 3 times a day. For the treatment of extrapyramidal syndrome caused by the administration of antipsychotics: adults 0.5-1 g 3 times a day, children 0.25-0.5 g 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 1-3 months. With ticks: children 0.25-0.5 g 3-6 times a day, for 1-4 months. When urination disorders: adults, 0.5-1 g 2-3 times a day, children, 0.25-0.5 g (daily dose is 25-50 mg / kg). Side effects
