Composition
1 g natamycin 20 mg Auxiliary substances: cetyl ether wax, decyl oleate (cetiol V), sodium lauryl sulphate, propylene glycol, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, cetostearyl alcohol, purified water.
Pharmacological effect
Antifungal polyene (tetraenic) macrolide antibiotic. It has mainly fungicidal effect. Natamycin irreversibly binds to the ergosterol of the cell membrane of the cell of the fungus, which leads to a violation of its integrity, loss of the contents of the cytoplasm and cell death. Most of the pathogenic yeast and mold fungi are sensitive to natamycin, including the Candida, Aspergillus, Cephalosporium, Fusarium and Penicillium genera. Dermatophytes and Pseudoallescheria boydii are less sensitive to natamycin. There are no cases of resistance to natamycin in clinical practice. Natamycin in the dosage form of an enteric-coated tablet acts only in the intestinal lumen.
Pharmacokinetics
When ingested, natamycin is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and has no systemic effect.
Indications
intestinal candidiasis; acute pseudomembranous and acute atrophic candidiasis in patients with cachexia, immune deficiency, as well as after antibiotic therapy, corticosteroids, cytostatics; sanitation of the intestinal reservoir of Candida fungi in case of candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes, incl. with candidal vaginitis, vulvitis and vulvovaginitis.
Contraindications
hypersensitivity to the drug.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Perhaps the use of Pimafucin during pregnancy and lactation.
Dosage and administration
The drug is taken orally. Eating does not affect the effectiveness of the drug. For intestinal candidiasis, adults are advised to take 100 mg (1 tab.) 4 times / day, for children - 100 mg (1 tab.) 2 times / day. The average duration of treatment is 1 week. In case of persistent vaginitis caused by Candida fungi, together with local antifungal drugs (for example, Pimafucin suppositories), Pimafucine pills (100 mg (1 tab.) 4 times / day for 10-20 days)The duration of treatment is set individually. After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, it is recommended to continue the treatment for several days.
Side effects
On the part of the digestive system: possible nausea, diarrhea (occurring in the first days of taking the drug and taking place independently during treatment). The patient should be warned that if any of the side effects indicated in the instruction are aggravated, or he has noticed any other side effects that are not indicated in the instructions, you should inform your doctor.
Overdose
Currently, no cases of overdose of Pimafucin have been reported.

Patients with rare congenital intolerance to galactose, fructose, lactase deficiency lapp, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency must take into account that the preparation contains lactose monohydrate (66 mg) and sucrose (122 mg). If the patient suffers from one of the listed diseases, you should always consult with your doctor before taking Pimafucin pills. Pimafucin in this dosage form is not recommended for use in infants due to possible difficulty in swallowing pills.
