Composition
1 tablet contains: Active substances: betaine hydrochloride (Acidin) (in terms of 100% substance) 200 mg, pork pepsin (in terms of 100% pepsin) 0.5 mg. Additional substances: povidone K-25, colloidal silicon dioxide, calcium stearate, sorbitol (E 420).
Pharmacological effect
Pepsin is one of the main proteolytic enzymes of the digestive tract. It is produced in the cells of the mucous membrane of the stomach in an inactive form - as a proenzyme pepsinogen, which turns into an active enzyme pepsin in the gastric contents. Acts at the first stage of digestion of proteins in the digestive tract; in the acidic environment, the gastric contents hydrolyzes proteins to peptides; among the hydrolysis products there are also amino acids. At pH 5.0 it promotes the coagulation of milk. Betaine hydrochloride (acidide) helps to increase the acidity of the gastrointestinal juice, creates the optimum pH for pepsin activity. 0.4 g of betaine hydrochloride correspond to approximately 16 drops of diluted hydrochloric acid.
Pharmacokinetics
Pharmacokinetics. Pepsin has optimal activity at a pH of 1.4-2.5; with an increase in pH, the activity decreases, with a pH greater than 6.0 it stops. It is destroyed in the duodenum under the action of pancreatic enzymes. Betaine hydrochloride, when introduced into the stomach, is easily hydrolyzed to release free hydrochloric acid.
Indications
Hypo - and anacid gastritis, dyspepsia.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, hyperacid gastritis, increased acidity of gastric juice, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer, erosive gastroduodenitis.
Precautionary measures
Acidin-pepsin is advisable to use with enzyme drugs.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The experience of using the drug in pregnant women and during breastfeeding is absent, therefore, this category of patients should not be used.
Dosage and administration
Adults appoint 2 pills 3-4 times a day. Tablets before taking dissolve in 1 / 4-1 / 2 cup of water. Accepted with or after meals. The course of treatment depends on the course of the disease and the effectiveness of therapy and is determined individually by the doctor in each case.
Side effects

Interaction with other drugs
The effect of the drug is reduced while taking bases (antacids), heavy metals, tannin, acid-reactive drugs. Pepsin is destroyed by alcohol.
