Composition
1 g contains ketoprofen 50 mg. Auxiliary substances: methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 2 mg, propyl parahydroxybenzoate - 0.5 mg, propylene glycol - 70 mg, isopropyl myristate - 50 mg, white petrolatum - 320 mg, elfacos ST9 - 30 mg, propylene glycol glycerum, Glyceralite, 30 mg, and Glycerol Glycerol, 30 mg, and Glycerol Glycerol, 30 mg; magnesium sulfate - 5 mg, purified water - 382.5 mg.
Pharmacological effect
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, the main properties of which are analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-edema action. Ketoprofen does not adversely affect articular cartilage.
Pharmacokinetics
Ketoprofen well penetrates into the subcutaneous tissue, ligaments and muscles, synovial fluid and reaches therapeutic concentrations there. The drug concentration in plasma is extremely low.
Indications
Symptomatic therapy of painful and inflammatory processes of various genesis
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; - Hypersensitivity to salicylates, tiaprofenic acid or other NSAIDs, to fenofibrate, UV blockers, fragrances; - Violation of the integrity of the skin (eczema, oozing dermatitis, open or infected wound) - instructions in the anamnesis attacks of bronchial asthma caused by taking NSAIDs and salicylates; - history of photosensitivity reactions; - exposure to sunlight, incl. indirect sunlight and UV irradiation in a tanning bed during the entire period of treatment and another 2 weeks after stopping treatment; - III trimester of pregnancy; - children under 15 years old. With caution: impaired liver and / or kidney function, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract , blood diseases, bronchial asthma, chronic heart failure.
Precautionary measures
If you forget to apply the cream, apply it at the time when the next dose should be applied, but do not double it. The cream can be used in combination with other forms of the drug Ketonal: capsules, pills, suppositories. The total daily dose, regardless of the dosage, should not exceed 200 mg. It is necessary to avoid getting the cream in the eyes, on the skin around the eyes, mucous membranes. If any side effects appear, you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor. In case of skin reactions, includingdeveloped when combined with octocrylene-containing drugs, treatment should be discontinued immediately. To reduce the risk of photosensitivity, it is recommended to protect skin-treated areas with clothing from UVA exposure throughout the entire treatment period and for 2 more weeks after discontinuing the gel. Do not use as occlusive dressings. Wash hands thoroughly after each application.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is contraindicated for use in the III trimester of pregnancy. Use in I and II trimesters is possible in cases where the expected benefit of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. The use of the drug Ketonal during lactation (breastfeeding) is not recommended
Dosage and administration
A small amount of cream (about 3-5 cm) with light rubbing movements is applied with a thin layer on the skin over the lesion. The cream is applied 2-3 times / day. The duration of treatment without consulting a doctor should not exceed 14 days.
Side effects
Local reactions are most common. The frequency of adverse reactions is very frequent (≥1 / 10), often (≥1 / 100 and <1/10), infrequently (≥1 / 1000 and <1/100), rarely (≥1 / 10 000 and <1/1000), very rarely (<10 000). Allergic reactions: very rarely - angioedema, anaphylaxis. On the skin and skin appendages: rarely - erythema, itching, burning, eczema, mild transient dermatitis gravity; rarely - urticaria, rash, photosensitivity, bullous dermatitis, purpura, erythema multiforme, lichenoid dermatitis, skin necrosis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome; very rarely - a single case of severe contact dermatitis (against the background of poor hygiene and insolation), a single case of severe generalized photodermatitis, toxic epidermal necrolysis. On the part of the respiratory system: very rarely - asthmatic attacks (as an allergic reaction). On the part of the urinary system: very rarely - deterioration of renal function in patients with chronic renal failure
Overdose
Symptoms: irritation, erythema, pruritus. Treatment: discontinue use of the drug. The patient needs to see a doctor.
Interaction with other drugs
Since the concentration of the drug in the blood plasma is extremely low, the manifestation of symptoms of interaction with other drugs (similar symptoms with systemic use) are possible only with frequent and prolonged use. Simultaneous use of other topical forms (ointments, gels) containing ketoprofen or other NSAIDs is not recommended. Simultaneous taking acetylsalicylic acid reduces ketoprofen binding to plasma proteins. Ketoprofen reduces the elimination of methotrexate and increases its toxicity. Interactions with other drugs and the effect on their elimination are not significant. Patients taking coumarin-containing anticoagulants are recommended to be treated under medical supervision.
