Composition
1 g of cream contains: Active substance: miconazole nitrate - 20 mg. Auxiliary substances: propylene glycol, soft white paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, cetomacrogol 1000, light liquid paraffin, disodium edetate, sodium hydrogen phosphate, chlorocresol, purified water.
Pharmacological effect
Miconazole has antifungal effects. It inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, changes the composition and permeability of the cell wall. Active against dermatophytes yeast and other fungi. It shows antimicrobial activity against gram-positive microorganisms. Pharmacokinetics: With local applications, only a small number of metabolites are found in the blood. It is rapidly destroyed in the liver, excreted through the kidneys, 14-22% of the dose in the form of inactive derivatives.
Indications
Dermatomycosis caused by fungi sensitive to the drug (including with secondary infection with gram-positive microorganisms).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, With caution - diabetes, impaired microcirculation.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
When applied topically, miconazole is not absorbed. The drug can be used during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Dosage and administration
Outwardly. The cream is applied to washed and thoroughly dried skin, gently rubbing into the affected areas 2 times a day (morning and evening). If necessary, apply an occlusive dressing. The treatment is continued until the symptoms disappear completely and over the next few days to prevent recurrence. In the process of therapy, mycological monitoring is carried out, the results of which determine the duration of treatment (usually its duration is 2-6 weeks).
Side effects
When hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, there are local allergic reactions - redness of the skin, burning sensation and tingling at the place of use of the drug; in rare cases - urticaria, edema, rash, erythema.
Overdose
The use of the drug in high doses does not cause any reactions and conditions that are life-threatening. In the event of an unintended use of the drug (inside), the following symptoms are possible: anorexia.nausea, vomiting, gastralgia, abnormal liver function; rarely, drowsiness, hallucinations, half-pakiuria, skin allergic reactions. There is no specific antidote. It is necessary to appoint inside activated carbon. If necessary, treatment is symptomatic.
Interaction with other drugs
Enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants, oral hypoglycemic drugs, phenytoin.
special instructions
If the patient has irritation of the skin, or hypersensitivity develops (allergic reactions occur) during the use of this drug, the treatment should be stopped and a course of appropriate therapy should be prescribed. It is not recommended to use the cream for more than 4 weeks. For external use only. Do not allow the drug to get into the eyes.
