Pharmacological effect
Nifuroxazide is a derivative of 5-nitrofuran. It has a local antibacterial effect in the intestinal lumen against Gram-positive bacteria from the genus Staphylococcus and Gram-negative bacteria from the family Enterobacteriaceae from the genus: Yersinia sp., Escherichia sp., Citobacter sp., Enterobacter sp., Klebsiella sp., Salmonella sp. Nifuroxazide does not exhibit an antibacterial effect on the bacteria of the species: Proteus vulgaris, Proteus mirabilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Nifuroxazide does not destroy the saprophytic microflora of the digestive tract, does not disturb the equilibrium of the normal intestinal flora. Non-emergence of resistant strains. Does not cause the formation of resistant strains. Nifuroxazide has an inhibitory effect on the activity of dehydrogenases and the synthesis of proteins in bacterial cells. The detailed mechanism of the drug is unknown. Nifuroxazide presumably inhibits the activity of dehydrogenases and the synthesis of proteins in bacterial cells. Pharmacokinetics

Indications

Contraindications

Use during pregnancy and lactation
As a precautionary measure, it is preferable not to use Stopdiar during pregnancy, as there is not enough clinical data to evaluate the teratogenic or fetotoxic effects of nifuroxazide when it is used during pregnancy. With short-term use of the drug, breastfeeding is possible.
Dosage and administration
Stopdiar is recommended to take inside. The drug is prescribed to adults and children over 7 years, 200 mg (2 pills) 4 times / day. The drug is taken regardless of the meal at regular intervals (every 6 hours). The course of treatment in prescribed doses is not more than 3 days.
