Pharmacological effect
Corneal protector. The drug stimulates the regeneration processes. The active substance of the drug Korneregel is dexpanthenol / panthenol - the precursor of pantothenic acid, which thus has all the same biological properties as D-pantothenic acid, which, having become coenzyme A in the human body, is involved in many metabolic processes. The data obtained in experiments on animals indicate an increase in the proliferation of fibroblasts and the presence of a regenerating effect. When applied externally, dexpanthenol is able to replenish the increased need for damaged skin or mucous membranes in pantothenic acid. The eye gel has a high viscosity, which allows to achieve prolonged contact with dexpanthenol with the surface of the eye mucosa.
Pharmacokinetics
According to a study of dexpanthenol labeled with tritium, its absorption through the skin was established. To increase the duration of contact of an aqueous solution of dexpanthenol with the cornea epithelium, Korneregel contains carbomer, which due to its high molecular weight does not penetrate into the eyeball tissue and is not absorbed into the systemic circulation .
Indications
Treatment of keratopathy non-inflammatory nature, such as corneal dystrophy, recurrent erosion, corneal lesions when wearing contact lenses, as an adjuvant therapy to stimulate the healing of the cornea and conjunctiva in their injuries and burns (chemical and thermal), as an aid to treatment infectious lesions of the cornea of bacterial, viral or fungal origin.
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug. The drug is used with caution during pregnancy and during breastfeeding (clinical data are not available).
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Data on the effects of pantothenic acid when administered on the course of pregnancy and the development of the fetus or the health of the newborn are not available. However, it is known that ingestion of pantothenic acid, into which dexpanthenol is metabolized, freely passes through the placenta and is excreted through breast milk in proportion to the amount of the drug taken. use of the drug Korneregel during pregnancy and / or during breastfeeding is possible only after consulting a doctor when the expected benefit to the mother exceeds n potentially risk to the fetus and / or the child.
Dosage and administration

Side effects

Interaction with other drugs
Cases of incompatibility with other drugs are unknown. special instructions
Korneregel should not be used as a monotherapy for infectious corneal damage of bacterial, viral or fungal origin. The preservative cetrimide, which is part of the drug, with prolonged or too frequent use can cause local eye irritation, allergic reactions (burning, redness, foreign body sensation in the eye) and damage to the corneal epithelium. During the period of treatment with Korneregel, wearing contact lenses is not recommended due to the possible incompatibility of the drug with the lens material.However, if contact lenses are still shown, before using Korneregel, they should be removed and put back on no earlier than 15 minutes after instillation of the drug.
