Description
Creon 40000 is an enzyme preparation that improves the processes of food digestion in adults and children, and thereby reduces the symptoms of pancreatic enzyme deficiency (flatulence, changes in stool frequency and consistency). Pancreatic enzymes that make up the drug, facilitate the digestion of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, which leads to their complete absorption in the small intestine.

Pharmacological effect
Creon 40000 contains porcine pancreatin in the form of minimicrospheres, enteric-coated (acid-resistant) shell, in gelatin capsules. Capsules quickly dissolve in the stomach, releasing hundreds of minimicrospheres. This principle was developed for the purpose of simultaneous passage (intake) of minimicrospheres with food from the stomach into the intestine and thorough mixing of minimicrospheres with intestinal contents, and, ultimately, better distribution of enzymes after their release inside the intestinal contents. When the minimicrospheres reach the small intestine, the enteric membrane quickly collapses (at pH> 5.5), the release of enzymes with lipolytic, amylolytic and proteolytic activity occurs, which leads to the breakdown of fats, carbohydrates and proteins. The substances resulting from the cleavage are then either absorbed directly or undergo further cleavage by intestinal enzymes.
Pharmacokinetics
In animal studies, the lack of absorption of undigested enzymes was demonstrated and, as a result, classical pharmacokinetic studies were not performed. Preparations containing pancreatic enzymes do not require absorption to manifest their effects. On the contrary, the fully therapeutic activity of these drugs is realized in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract. Moreover, according to their chemical structure, they are proteins and, therefore, when passing through the gastrointestinal tract, enzyme preparations break down until then. until absorption in the form of peptides and amino acids.
Indications
Cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, after pancreas surgery, after gastrectomy, pancreatic cancer,partial resection of the stomach (for example, Billroth II), obstruction of the pancreatic ducts or common bile duct (for example, due to neoplasm), Shvahman-Diamond syndrome, the state after an attack of acute pancreatitis and the resumption of nutrition.

Side effects
