Composition
Each tablet contains: paracetamol 500 mg. Auxiliary substances: sorbitol, sodium saccharin, sodium bicarbonate, povidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, dimethicone, citric acid, sodium carbonate.
Pharmacological effect
Paracetamol refers to analgesic non-narcotic agents. It has analgesic, antipyretic and minor anti-inflammatory action. The drug does not cause irritation of the mucous membrane of the stomach.
Indications
"Panadol" is used for headaches, migraines, toothache, back pain, muscle pain, painful menstruation and sore throat. Panadol is also used to treat symptomatically and reduce fever for colds and flu. The drug is intended for adults.
Contraindications
Do not take the drug at the same time as other paracetamol-containing drugs, if you are hypersensitive to paracetamol or any other ingredient of the drug, if the liver or kidneys are severely impaired, or if there is a genetic lack of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and for blood diseases. The drug should be taken with caution in case of Gilbert syndrome (constitutional hyperbilirubinemia). Not recommended for use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Precautionary measures
It is used with caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function. The risk of hepatotoxic action increases with the simultaneous appointment of barbiturates, difenina, carbamazepine, rifampicin, zidovudine and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes, as well as the simultaneous use of metoclopramide, domperidone and cholestyramine.
Dosage and administration
Tablets "Panadol" before ingestion should be dissolved in at least 100 ml (half a cup) of water. Adults: usually 1-2 pills 3-4 times a day, if necessary. The interval between doses - at least 4 hours. The maximum single dose for adults is 2 pills (1 g), the maximum daily dose is 8 pills (4 g). Children (6-12 years old) should be given 1 / 2-1 tablet 3-4 times a day, if necessary. The interval between doses - at least 4 hours.The maximum single dose for children 1 tablet (0.5 g), the maximum daily - 2 pills (2 g). The dose for children is calculated based on the child’s body weight: the maximum single dose is 10-15 mg / kg body weight, the maximum daily dose is 60 mg / kg body weight. Children are advised to use pediatric dosage forms. The drug is not recommended for more than five days as pain medication and more than three days as an antipyretic without prescription and observation by a doctor. An increase in the daily dose of the drug or the duration of treatment is possible only under the supervision of a physician. Do not exceed the specified dose. In case of overdose, consult a doctor immediately, even if you feel well.
Side effects
In recommended doses, the drug is usually well tolerated. Sometimes there may be an allergic reaction in the form of a rash on the skin, itching, angioedema. Rarely - disorders of the blood system (thrombocytopenia, methemoglobinemia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis). With prolonged use in high doses increases the likelihood of impaired liver and kidney function and control of the blood picture is necessary. With long-term use in high doses, hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic effects are possible. If you experience unusual symptoms, consult a doctor.
Overdose
Signs of paracetamol overdose are nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. After a day or two, signs of liver damage are determined. In severe cases, liver failure and coma develops.
